Our Families – Inspiring Stories

The strength and courage of our families is an inspiration and over the years Ronald McDonald House Auckland has welcomed thousands of families from all over New Zealand and occasionally the Pacific. Last year alone over 2000 families stayed with us.

There is no better way to understand the value of our House than hearing from our families directly so some of our family ambassadors have shared their story with you highlighting the different circumstances which bring families to Ronald McDonald House Auckland and what their stay meant to them.

At 20 weeks pregnant Mum Tiffany was told her baby had a diaphragmatic hernia, where the baby’s left side of the diaphragm isn’t formed, and was therefore unlikely to survive birth.

The Tukaki-Phillips family were originally from Christchurch and now have a house in Taupo. However, to this young family of five, Ronald McDonald House Auckland has represented more of a home to them recently in many ways.

In the early hours of one morning Peter and Rochelle discovered their son Dylan to be critically ill. Dylan was rushed to Starship Hospital where doctors discovered he had a diaphragmatic hernia which had suddenly burst.

understand the trauma you're goining through is a great support..."

The Tebbutts have become regular guests at Ronald McDonald House Auckland since their son, Joseph, was born with a number of health complications requiring specialist medical services at Starship Hosital.
