Ronald McDonald House Auckland provides shelter and support to ensure that kiwi families can remain together and strong whilst their child is in hospital.
When a child is battling a serious medical condition, it’s paramount to their ability to cope and heal that their family remains close. Our mission is to help keep families together and strong.
Through our three facilities - Ronald McDonald House Auckland Domain, Ronald McDonald House Grafton Mews and Ronald McDonald Family Room - we provide free accommodation and support to Kiwi families whose child has been admitted into the National Children’s Hospital.
Whilst the National Children's Hospital is focused on the medical needs of the child, Ronald McDonald House Auckland is focused on the practical and emotional needs of the child’s family. We are the only organisation in Auckland providing this service.
No child should have to face a health battle on their own. Our House ensures that families can remain together throughout their medical journey so that they can find the combined strength to get through whatever challenges the coming days, weeks or months may hold for them.
We provide a home, not just to the parents, but the whole family - brothers, sisters, grandparents – because families are stronger when they’re together and this principle remains at the heart of everything we do.
More than just a bed
We understand that our families come to us at what can be a very difficult and devastating time, so we aim to offer our families much more than just a place to sleep. We provide a support programme which seeks to alleviate some of the practical, emotional and financial burdens that accompany our families; and provide the priceless comfort of knowing that they are only minutes away from their child in hospital.
Families have come to rely on our House to keep their family strong and, above all, to keep them together.
